Kenny Lam is Partner at McKinsey & Company. He is McKinsey’s Asia Head of Private Banking and Wealth Management Practice and Asia Head of Retail Banking Practice He has advised senior management of leading financial institutions across China, India, Taiwan, Singapore, Hong Kong, Korea and Japan on a wide range of strategic, financial and operational issues and is an expert on private banking, wealth management and retail banking. Most recently, he has advised governments and regulators on private banking strategy in the key offshore hubs of Asia. He has been personally involved in most of McKinsey’s private banking engagements across Asia. He led McKinsey’s private banking survey for Asia and also led McKinsey’s Asia-wide study of retail banking consumer insights, with over 50,000 consumer interviews conducted. He is a prolific writer and has authored featured articles for the Financial Times, Hong Kong Economics Journal, the McKinesy Quarterly, amongst others. He has frequently been a speaker for leading wealth management conferences across Greater China. Before McKinsey, Mr. Lam was with American law firm Shearman & Sterling in New York, counseling multinational corporations in various M&A transactions and NYSE/Nasdaq public offerings. Mr. Lam graduated with a MA (Honours) in Law from Oxford University and magna cum laude with a BS in Finance from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, where he was a Joseph Wharton Scholar and a Benjamin Franklin Scholar.
